Highlights
- The God Is Good (GIG) group for seniors’ first meeting for 2025 took place on 18 January.
- We hosted an Information Day for our Protective Behaviour program on 21 January 2025.
- We welcomed back our Aftercare and Preschool children of 2025 on 13 January.
- We were blessed with a brand new Gr.R teacher, Ms. Danielle Kennedy in January.
- In February, we launched a brand new monthly social event where the senior citizens of Ligstad’s GIG group, as well as their Rosslee-friends come together to enjoy Bible study, games and activities.
Did you know?
- We provide safety and quality care 59 learners.
- We have a group of volunteers ready to eagerly serve their community.
- We host the University of Johannesburg as well as the Alberton Lions during their Brightsight initiatives.
- We provide a venue for weekly praise and worship meetings to take place at Ligstad, hosted by LOTS (Life On The Street) on Thursday at 18:00, as well as the Passion in Action Fellowship Tueday nights from 19:00 – 21:00.
- We provide a venue for monthly youth meetings, where underprivileged youth meet to learn about God and His love for them.
- Our GIG group participated in Tutela’s Arts and Crafts event and made us very proud with their amazing results.
How to ASSIST – Our needs
- Ligstad does not enjoy the benefits of state funding. We rely on donations from individuals who share our passion.
- We are also in need of volunteers to serve our senior community members as well as our children at our aftercare.
- Many children who depend heavily on the help of subsidies in order to attend Ligstad.
- We are in need of funds and nonperishable food to help strech our budget as far as possible.
Ligstad’s Impact
- Thirty learners receive quality ECD education.
- Lonely seniors’ social needs are pro-actively being met.
- Our partnerships allow for involvement in the wider community.
- Twenty-seven learners receive care and supervision at our aftercare which includes assistance with their educational development.
- Counseling services are provided to individuals and their families.
- We are the hands and feet of Jesus and you can play a vital role in this worthwhile endeavor.
