Our Aftercare was established in 2012. We saw the need for an affordable aftercare, which still provided the necessities to be a great aftercare. With the grace of God, we were blessed with our very own bus which we use to collect children from three schools (Laerskool President Steyn, General Alberts Primary and Alberton Primary), to bring them back to the aftercare facility. It is our wish to create a warm and safe environment for our children to learn and play in. A truly affordable aftercare, was one of the first services Ligstad ever offered back in 2012. We perceived a care vacuum in Alberton North and decided to breath new life into it. We created meaning where there was none. From humble beginnings our aftercare has developed into a friendly and safe environment where learners can interact, learn and grow, experiencing the love and guidance of our Lord and Saviour.
One of our great passions at the Ligstad aftercare, is of course our primary school learners. We care about their happiness as well as their well-being. We ensure that the meals and snacks our learners receive are well balanced and healthy. We encourage our learners to do their part and work hard, whether they are busy completing their homework, or studying for an upcoming test or exam. It is important for us to teach our learners how to be self-sufficient, which will allow them to use their God given strengths and talents to the utmost. We also find it important to further their knowledge of God, His love as well as His hand in their lives. We wish to foster a culture of love, respect and understanding between our learners, no matter their background.
Our Goal is to create a safe space for our learners to function in. It is very important that each and every child should feel secure at our aftercare. We aim to get as many smiles and giggles from our youngsters as possible. We also assist and guide our little ones when they complete their homework. Our aim here is to develop a strong academic foundation in them, so that they can be more self-sufficient when they reach the higher grades. Kids should also just be kids while they can and have as much fun as they can. We aim to promote co-operation, friendships and good old fun!!!
We live with the sad reality that our world has largely turned its back on Christ. We are happy to know that there are some schools that still attempt to promote the Christian faith, however, many has given up on this endeavor. Ligstad actively and proudly promotes the Christian faith. We pray before each meal and have reserved Fridays for Bible study. For many children Ligstad might be the only place where they come into contact with the word of God on a regular basis, making this aspect of our mission even more important.
When our learners arrive at the aftercare, they are treated to a delicious cooked meal. Our menu aims to provide an array of healthy and hearty meals. We also provide a late afternoon snack, after the study session has concluded.
Ligstad Aftercare is an amazing after school care centre. It’s not as much a business model as a care model, with an incredible staff compliment at the heart of it all. I cannot recommend this aftercare enough.
