On Friday 12 April 2024, the senior learners from Ligstad enjoyed the start to a very busy weekend. We started out our activities with a very interesting video about distinct differences between the theory of evolution versus our belief that God created the heavens and earth. We learned that the theory of evolution (turning from one animal to another), is just a theory that cannot be proven. Those who believe in this theory, require a great deal of faith as well. We learned that, just because some “smart” people try to convince us that God isn’t real and that certain things happened millions, billions or a gazillion years ago, doesn’t make it true. We believe in God because we have a personal relationship with God. We have felt and experienced Him in our lives. We can testify to God’s existence because we are the proof. On Friday night we had all sorts of fun. We played games, laughed and enjoyed a braai. The next morning we woke up to muffins and a warm beverage, along with an interesting Bible study session hosted by Alida Jooste. Old and young then a relaxing hike at the Huddle Golf and Recreation Park, after which we enjoyed a round of put-put. We relished a hamburger and chippie lunch (not forgetting the delicious slush puppies), before we headed to the Johannesburg Zoo to witness some of God’s most amazing creatures. At the end of the day, we walked about 23 000 steps, which made for some very tired legs and feet. We want to thank everyone who joined us on this amazing trip and want to thank Alida Jooste, Jeanne-Lee Fleuriot and Daniel Viljoen for accompanying the youngster. We also wish to thank everyone a Doxa Deo Meyersdal for opening their hearts and home to us. Thank you to every parent who allowed their child to join us and thank you to our Heavenly Father who protected us every step of the way.
