Every Child Deserves Hope

Sharing God’s Love at My Huis Children’s Home

Recently, Ligstad had the privilege of visiting the My Huis Children’s Home in Verwoerdpark. During our visit, we shared the story of Joseph with the children who currently call the children’s home their home. Just like these children, Joseph also faced many difficult and uncertain moments throughout his life. For a large part of his journey, things did not go the way he hoped or expected. Yet, in the end, God placed him in the right position at the right time so that he could care for and support his family. In the same way, we believe that although these children may not be growing up under ideal circumstances, they still have hope and a future, because our Heavenly Father is always with them.

It touches the heart deeply to realize that these children cannot grow up with their own parents as many others do. However, we are truly grateful for people like Jhani and Nico van der Westhuizen, who step in as parental figures—people who care for them, comfort them when they are sad, and share in their laughter when there is reason for joy. Their love and dedication make a meaningful difference in the lives of these children every day. After the Bible story, each child had the opportunity to choose a teddy bear and enjoy the treat packs that were prepared for them. Moments like these remind us how even small gestures of kindness can bring great joy. We would like to sincerely thank everyone who contributed to this project for their generosity and support. Your willingness to give helped make the day special for every child present. We had also planned to visit Naledi House in Alberton North, but we learned that the home is temporarily closed for repairs. We pray that wherever the children may currently be staying, the Lord will surround them with His grace, protection, and love.
