Ligstad Involvement
Become A Volunteer
Volunteer at the Ligstad Aftercare/Playgroup
Our aim at the Ligstad Aftercare/Playgroup is to keep our fees as low as possible in order to support parents whom might otherwise not be able to afford the services of an aftercare or playgroup. At the Aftercare, volunteers supports our youngster’s in completing their homework. While we assist our gr.1 to 3 learners in a more intensive way, we also provide general assistance to our gr.4 to 7 learners. Volunteers assist from Mondays to Thursdays, between 14:00 and 16:00. Volunteers pick the days on which they are able to assist. No special qualifications are necessary to assist Ligstad in this manner, only an honest desire to help. Students who are obligated to volunteer at a non-profit organisation as part of their study bursaries requirements or as part of a school project, are also welcome to volunteer at Ligstad. Early Childhood Development (ECD) students are also welcome to apply to volunteer at the Ligstad Playgroup, to gain some ECD experience.
Assist the Elderly at Ligstad
Community members are also welcome to volunteer their time to assist the elderly at Ligstad. Assistance in this area includes helping out during get-togethers hosted for the elderly (Friday mornings at Ligstad), providing transport to the elderly, hands and feet care or even visiting a lonely friend at home. No qualifications are needed in this regard, just a passion for our elders and their happiness.
Become a Counsellor
It is also possible to become a counsellor, trained and supervised by Ligstad’s own local social worker. This is another great way to uplift your fellow community members.
